Sharon Barrett began her service to Red Bluff Elementary School District in 1975 teaching at Bidwell Elementary. Over the next 38 years, she subsequently taught at all four sites in the District and spent a year as the District Mathematics Coach. She holds a B.A. in Liberal Studies from California State University, Chico, and a Masters in Mathematics Education from Nova Southeastern University, as well as two Life Teaching Credentials. After retirement in 2013, she took a year off before running and being elected to the Governing Board of RBUESD in 2014. At her first Board meeting, she was elected President of the Board and served in the role until December 2018. She has completed the Masters in Governance program through the California School Board Association. Serving on the Governing Board allows her to continue her over 40 year commitment to education and to the children and staff of the Red Bluff Elementary School District.
Mr. Steven Piffero is a native of California who grew up in the Salinas Valley. He is a graduate of Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, with a degree in Crop Science and a minor in U. S. History. He started his career as an Agricultural Educator in Selma, California. He then moved to Red Bluff in 1978 and continued teaching Agriculture at Red Bluff High School for two years. He then transferred to the Social Science Department where he continued to educate students for 38 years before his retirement. He has served on the school board being elected in 2014 serving as the Board President, Board Clerk, and currently serving on the District's Bond Committee. He has completed the Master in Governance Program and the Leadership Institute Program of 2018 from the California School Board Association.
He is married to a fellow educator Mrs. Catherine Piffero who teaches at Jackson Heights Elementary School. Together they have two children and three grandchildren. Mr. Piffero enjoys serving on the Board Of Trustees so he can ensure the studetns of Red Bluff are receiving a proper education in today's school system. He can be seen on our campus's on his monthly walk-through talking with students, staff and parents and at most school site activities. He is also committed to all staff members within the district by maintaining a safe and positive working environment.
Heidi Kerber Ackley, a retired teacher is a life-long resident of Red Bluff. She is married to Steve Ackley and they are the parents of 3 children and grandparents of 3 grandsons. She is a graduate of Red Bluff High School and CSU Chico earning degrees in Economics and Business Marketing. Mrs. Ackley received her teaching credential through Simpson University and was employed for 24 years as a teacher in the Red Bluff Elementary School District. She currently continues her work as a math teacher providing professional development as a Teacher Leader for CPM College Preparatory Mathematics.
Adriana Griffin has been a Red Bluff Union Elementary School District Board Member since 2012. She has two boys in the district who attend Vista Preparatory Academy and Jackson Heights Elementary. Adriana is a recent graduate from California State University, Chico with a BS in Business Administration with a focus on Human Resource Management and a minor in Psychology. Adriana is proud of the progress she has seen in RBUESD since moving to Red Bluff in 2011 and of the education her boys have received. She looks forward to seeing the district accomplish all that it can by providing the best possible education for all children.
Mrs. Merry Catron is very excited to be of service as a team member of the RBUESD Board. She has been an educator for 30 years in various capacities spanning Elementary School through College. Upon graduating from CSU Chico, she began her career in education at Corning High School, then transitioned to Tehama County Department of Education.
She and her husband left the area then transitioned to Red Bluff to be close to family as her parents settled in Los Molinos for their retirement. She received her Masters Degree and Administrative Credential from Simpson University in 2009 and set out on the Administrative path. She has found much joy in working with students across all ages and leading teams to support their learning. She looks forward to serving the students, families and staff of the schools here in our community
