CARING FOR CB's
 
This is a  video to show your students. 
 
ONLY SOME OF THE CB's ARE CHARGING
 
The Chromebook Carts don't charge all of the CB's at once. They moderate the electrical load on the wall outlet, by charging one half or one third of the CB's at a time, then switching. 
 
WON'T POWER UP
 
You know the CB is charged, but it won't power up. 
 
  1. Verify that 'charging' LED is lit, when the power cord is connected. 
  2. Powered Boot: Try to power it up while it's plugged in. Let it come up all the way and run for about 5 min. Does it die the instant it's unplugged? Put in a work order for the Tech Dept (be sure to include the CB#). 
  3. Reset: If it won't get to a login screen, hold down the Refresh button (circle arrow key) and the Power button simultaneously. 
  4. Work Order: If 1 and 2 didn't work, please submit a work order. 

Headphones - Sound not working
 
It is most likely that they accidentally clicked the "Internal Speakers".
- Plug in the headphones
- Click the bottom right menu(where time is located), find the sound icon and click the arrow on right side of it. Choose "Headphones" as your listening device.
 
 
MANUALLY UPDATING CB's
 
  • Bring up the Settings menu by clicking on bottom right icon, then on gear icon.

  • Click on the "three lines" / "pancake" icon.

  • Select "About Chrome OS".

    Click on About Chrome OS

     
  • Click "Check for Updates" (if it hasn't already started updating). When update is complete, fully shutdown and power back up again.
